I’ve loved the word crazy forever. Because packed into it is energy, creativity, freshness and nimbleness that only a few can pull off. I was thrown into this world on this very day last year. And since then, to quote an ancient Coldplay album, it’s been a rush of blood to the head. Am happy that I survived one year of travel blogging & copious writing. Not to forget my all time favorite, what I like to call visual captures.
TRAVEL BLOGGING HAS GOT ME HOOKED ALRIGHT
Sometimes I wish I could write a bit faster, zoom into the best pictures I want to share and just do it…you know just put the post up. But then I realize I was no different when I loaded my photo albums either. I took my time. Travel is my lifeline and always will be. So what the heck! It deserves all the attention. And if you too are about to step into this madness, here’s a hearty welcome.
Now the fun part for a few laughs. It’s from all the day dreams that slide in surreptitiously. Yes, it’s that bit where you start imagining you are the cats whiskers because you’ve started blogging. So I guarantee in just a year, pretty much like I did, you will do most of the below.
YOU’LL THINK YOU CAN WRITE A BOOK
This one is messy. It’ll make you take flights of fantasy about your writing. Of course you can write. But hoping your book will be downloaded or bought because it’s a cool read?!!! I had a better chance of selling a few copies, if I wrote about my gaffes during the last 1 year of blogging instead.
YOU’LL THINK YOU ARE QUOTE WORTHY
All of a sudden you start to share your wisdom on travel. On how it changes lives and such things. Well I was pleasantly surprised that some of the thoughts I floated were pretty nice. But will it soon be featured in a site that curates the greatest quotes of all time?!!! Well, I must be nuts.
YOU’LL THINK YOUR DESTINATIONS ARE INIMITABLE
This one is rather quick in its roll back and awakens you to the reality, that you are in a universe of tireless, sleepless globetrotters. There are so many who have written about the place you’ve been to and many are yet to come. But here’s the good part. Your experiences are yours exclusively. And surprising yourself when traveling to a popular destination, makes for great copy.
In the words of Marcel Proust (from his work, In search of Lost time), “The real voyage of discovery consists not in seeking new landscapes, but in having new eyes.”
I have a few more silly moments to punch in from all the blogging. But I’ll let you discover yours by and by. I am ecstatic that I had a smooth & bumpy sail through last year. You’d agree still waters took none, anywhere. I am super grateful the blog has a few subscribers and travel enthusiasts stopping by every day. Sometimes even students. After over 15 years of travel chronicled through pictures & words, am madly thrilled that I’ve started something that’s useful & entertaining too.
HAPPY READING. BON VOYAGE.
